Jeju Olle, Day 9

An early wake up was harsh but doable. A bit later than planned but still within the range of safe, I’ve got to the ferry terminal about 40 minutes before the departure. Just to learn that my entry stamp in the passport does not allow me to travel to Chuja islands. I annoyed with dumb questions the person selling the tickets, then he sent me to the immigration officer on site — the guy confirmed that he wouldn’t let me through even if I had a ticket. Since neither of them spoke any English, I couldn’t get any meaningful explanation why. But oh well, what can we do: no means no. Since I have a hotel booked for two nights anyway, I’ve returned to my room and took a nap.

By the time I woke up again, the rain was already going here on the outside. Glad I’m not hiking there in it. It also means I am not “wasting” my two-nights-same-place, as I would have had to do it anyway to wait through the rainy day. And with these thoughts I am going back to sleep. The forecast shows the rain should end by the evening and I might go check out the surroundings then, if it is not too late.

Yep, it is too late for museums and stuff like that. So I am checking out a market and a couple of food places.

The market is cool. Would be nice to get back here before the flight. Out of the food places I checked, the only one that was both open and had vegetarian food was a Yemen restaurant. For a change not bibimbap, but Lebanese soup with a flatbread. At least, that was what I ordered — by the end of the meal I had six plates on my table. Guess, even if it is a Yemen restaurant, it is still in Korea.

Easy short 20km walk tomorrow, so I might as well check something in the morning before checking out.
