Most travels are timed for arrival. Hours in airports, days at destinations, then back. There are also travels of another kind — where the path is the thing, not the destination. Walking from one place to another over days, weeks or months, on foot, not because it is faster (it is not) or harder (it can be), but because it is the way that lets the world arrive at human pace.

This blog is a record of trips taken slowly. It isn’t a how-to and it isn’t a manifesto. It puts the slow way in the air — there for whoever finds it.

What you’ll find here isn’t “the right” way to travel. It is simply my way so far. The trips here span years, and each was written in the voice of the person who took it. As they drift through the years, so does the way they’re written. That is part of how the slow way works.

The path is the subject. The walker is the lens.
