TSH, day 9
7:30 am — TSH, day 9
I woke up just before sunrise and was able to capture a nice timelapse of a morning Fuji-san. Around 5.45 I started to walk and, looking at the time, I see that my yesterday’s decision was right. The farthest I could possibly get yesterday before dark was the viewpoint at the top of Shishin. Might be also a nice spot if you are not worried about bears.
8:00 pm — Detours
Most of the day it was just a normal uneventful hike. At Nambu I was able to find a big nice supermarket absent from all the maps and I bought and ate my lunch just there.
Then detours. Just after Nambu there is a big construction site and part of the TSH is temporarily closed. So I just followed the proposed detour, yet it took almost two hours of walking back and forth (I failed to find a board with the announcement at first, so I went to ask construction workers).
A few more detours on the following trail were way less stressful and time-consuming, so about 19.00 I was at Okuyama Camping.
Unfortunately, they are completely non-hiker-friendly. Their check-in time officially ends at 17.00 and a guard told me that I cannot use the camping because “it is too late”. Thus I went about 1km up into the mountains and found a nice spot for the tent there. With no prohibition signs.
